The Gateway Career Center has collaborated with a company called Forage to provide students with a variety of FREE Virtual Work Experience Programs.

What is a Virtual Work Experience Program?

Virtual Work Experience Programs are online programs built and endorsed by leading companies. They contain a series of resources and tasks designed to simulate the real-world experience of starting a career. In a nutshell, Virtual Work Experience Programs on Forage are designed first and foremost to help students.

The Virtual Work Experience Programs are great opportunities for students who are trying to decide what field they want to pursue or who are looking to gain experience before seeking an internship. Virtual Work Experience Programs also allow you to connect with employers in a unique way!

These programs are a risk-free opportunity to try out a career in a leading firm.

By completing a Forage Virtual Internship you will:

• Gain a better understanding of the diverse and exciting career pathways available to you
• Build the skills and confidence that will set you up for success as you move from the world of study to the world of work

The main differences between these programs and a traditional internship are:

• Virtual internships are open to all students (no applications!)
• You can’t make any mistakes in a Virtual Experience Internship (no pressure!)
• Virtual Experience Internships are truly digital and you can complete them in your own time, from anywhere in the world.

Below are just some of the Virtual Experience Programs available:

How It Works

You sign up by creating your profile on the Forage site.

  • Once on the site, click the Enroll Now button, enter your name, your Lafayette email and create a password.

Click here to register and get started.

Once you have completed sign up, you can register for a Virtual Experience by clicking on a tile.

When you sign up for a new Virtual Work Experience Program you can choose to share and submit your information and work with the employer. You always have the option to opt-out of sharing as well.

As you complete each module of the Virtual Internship you will unlock real work samples to show you how a graduate at that company would have approached each task. In this way, you will be able to self-assess your own work and continue to build the skills and confidence to be successful in your transition from college to the world of work.

After completing each program you can add the information to your resume and LinkedIn profile to showcase your experience and abilities to prospective employers.
