As a member of the Business Development and Marketing Department, the Graphic Designer plays a key role on the Creative Services and Communications teams and supports the firm’s visual efforts related to business development, marketing, and client communications. The successful candidate will possess not only an excellent eye for design but also have a thorough understanding of the user experience in digital and interactive media.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work as part of the Creative Services team to create visually compelling digital and print content from concept to final form that helps to sell the firm’s services and capabilities to clients and prospects.
- Demonstrate a keen understanding of technologies and creative strategies in the design and creation of graphical assets and other creative content for all mediums.
- Perform quality assurance testing to verify the integrity of the user experience.
- In conjunction with the Assistant Director of Creative Services, conceptualize, develop and implement new design solutions when needed.
- Maintain consistent brand identity across all media.
- Work seamlessly with attorneys and all levels of staff and firm management to help them articulate their messages visually, incorporating the firm’s brand in a creative and compelling way.
- Ensure quality control and attention to detail by proofreading all projects, visually and using spell check, checking, and confirming links, etc., to produce accurate and high-quality work.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
- Other department projects and responsibilities as assigned. Occasional coordination with outside vendors as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES):
Education:
- Art or design school experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in graphic and multimedia design with strong attention to detail and the user experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite, including After Effects and Premiere.
- Knowledge of responsive design principles.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Fluency in Word and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of print production and pre-press file preparation.
- Experience using WordPress-based CMS a plus.
- HTML code skills a plus.
- Desire to continually learn, evaluate and implement new technologies; stay current on trends, new techniques and resources in graphic design and related technologies.
- Comfort receiving and accepting creative direction, feedback and revisions to work product from attorneys, team members and other firm employees.
- Flexible with ability to multitask and handle multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities under tight time constraints.
- Adhere to deadlines and demonstrate effective time management, project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
- Creative problem-solver who demonstrates initiative, energy, confidence and humor.
- Good interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of firm staff and management.
- Online portfolio a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary work: Exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
VISUAL ACUITY
Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
