Role Description
As a Frontend Developer Intern at SkyIT, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing the user-facing components of our fleet management software. You will work closely with UI/UX designers, backend developers, and product teams to create responsive, interactive, and visually appealing interfaces that offer a seamless user experience. This internship will provide you with deep exposure to modern frontend frameworks, cloud deployment practices, and agile product development cycles. Your contributions will directly influence the usability, accessibility, and performance of our web-based solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate UI/UX designs into high-quality, responsive, and reusable frontend components using ReactJS, NextJS, and related technologies.
- Collaborate with backend developers to integrate RESTful and GraphQL APIs smoothly using tools like Django REST Framework and Urql.
- Ensure cross-browser compatibility and optimize frontend performance across devices and platforms.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to maintaining clean, efficient, and well-documented codebases.
- Assist in writing and running regression and automated tests to ensure code quality and prevent regressions.
- Work closely with DevOps teams to deploy and manage frontend applications on cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
- Engage actively in Agile/SCRUM ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Continuously research emerging frontend technologies and web standards to drive innovation and improve user experience.
- Contribute to optimizing Azure cloud resources and frontend assets for speed, reliability, and scalability.
- Utilize project tracking tools (e.g., Jira, ClickUp) to organize tasks, bugs, and feature requests effectively.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Currently pursuing (senior year of Bachelor’s) or completed a Master’s degree in Software Engineering or Computer Engineering
- Strong and demonstrable portfolio showcasing frontend projects featuring ReactJS, NextJS, or other modern JavaScript frameworks/libraries.
- Proficiency with Django REST Framework (Python) and its integration with frontend components.
- Experience working with ReactJS and NextJS to build complex web applications.
- Familiarity with Urql or other GraphQL clients to effectively consume APIs.
- Backend experience with Express (JavaScript) and solid understanding of RESTful and GraphQL API design principles.
- Practical experience or coursework with project management and issue tracking tools like Jira or ClickUp.
- Exposure to deploying and managing applications on Microsoft Azure or equivalent cloud platforms.
- Experience optimizing frontend code for performance, security, and maintainability.
- Working knowledge of test automation and regression testing processes.
- Comfortable with modern development tooling: Git, Docker, Webpack, Babel, ESLint, and related technologies.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, especially SCRUM frameworks, and effective team collaboration.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills coupled with a strong willingness to learn and innovate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, academic projects, or contributions to open-source demonstrating full-cycle frontend development.
- Understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and best practices.
- Experience with containerized frontend deployments and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in cloud environments.
- Knowledge of performance monitoring tools and frontend analytics.
- Certifications or additional coursework in cloud computing, frontend development, or UI/UX design.
Internship Details:
- The minimum internship duration is 3 months and minimum working hours per week is 20 hours.
- This is an unpaid internship.
- All applicants MUST be a university master or above.
- We are a Canadian-based company.
- All positions are remote.
- We require mandatory meeting availability (depending on your role).
- Work hours are based in MST (Mountain Standard Time).
