The Student Intern is expected to participate in departmental and specialty service line meetings to gain understanding of operational and strategic planning/decision making. This internship is designed to provide the student with practical experiences in health-related, safety, and emergency management settings under appropriate supervision by competent personnel. Objective is to facilitate development of the student’s interpersonal skills and knowledge needed for professional growth and employment. Requires independent judgment in the performance of the assigned duties.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participate in departmental and service line meetings to gain understanding of operational and strategic planning/decision making.
2. Lead or support process improvement initiatives through assigned projects.
3. Develop flow maps of current processes to make recommendation for both operational and strategic improvement.
4. Manage and analyze data to identify strategic needs.
5. Communicates as necessary with other health care departments on hospital campuses or outpatient clinical providers in a professional and appropriate manner.
6. Assists staff participating in other related duties, including special assignments related to inspection and accreditation projects.
SLUHN NETWORK SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
7. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.

13. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
PHYSICIAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Walking for up to six (6) hours in half-hour increments. Frequently uses fingers for typing data entry. Rarely lifts, pushes or pulls from 26 to 50 pounds. Rarely stoops, bends or reaches above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, peripheral vision and visual monotony.
EDUCATION:
Enrolled in a Healthcare Administration/HPA, or similar program.
