Faculty-Career Center Partnership Opportunities
Alumni Programming: Interested in connecting Lafayette alumni to your current students? We are happy to partner with you to identify grads who meet your needs, as well as provide program planning consultation to ensure your goals are met. We also encourage you to join us for programs we coordinate such as alumni panels, career/industry weeks, SophoMORE Success, and networking events.
Data Requests: Need historical data for graduates and/or data regarding how students from your academic area spend their summer? The Career Center surveys each class for six months following graduation, and compiles the data for first destination, salary, and graduate and professional school information. Our office also conducts an annual Summer Experience Survey which gathers data about how students spend their time each summer. We are happy to provide data specific to your academic area. Contact us to request a report tailored to your needs.
Mock/Practice Interview Program: Gateway invites alumni, parents, and employers to conduct practice interviews (virtually and in-person). This experience provides your students with vital interviewing practice and actionable feedback, directly from industry professionals. Mock interviews with Gateway Counselors are also available year-round, including practice for graduate and professional school interviews. If you are working with students who could benefit from this service, please direct them our way.
Postings: Send us opportunities (jobs, internships, and research positions) that come your way by emailing us at careers@lafayette.edu. All positions that we receive are posted to Handshake, our e-recruiting platform. Students have 24/7 access to this online database of full-time job, off-campus research, internship, and Work Study/Campus Job postings. As a Lafayette faculty member, you may access it, too!
Workshops/Presentations: Would you like a member of our team to deliver a career presentations to a campus group, class, and/or student organization? The Career Center is happy to work with you to coordinate a session on topics such as: an overview of Gateway, career exploration, resume writing, interviewing, salary negotiation, or a topic of your choice. We ask that you submit your request at least one month before the desired program date, and require participation of at least 15 students.
We are also grateful for faculty’s willingness to:
- Inform Gateway of career or graduate school related programs that align to Lafayette students’ interests.
- Encourage students to attend Career Center programming.
- Provide curriculum information/overviews.
- Refer students to the Career Center to meet with their Gateway Counselor.
- Share student post-graduate plan information.
