Gateway Ambassador Program

Gateway Ambassadors are leaders that serve as a Gateway Career Center Liaison to the greater Lafayette community. Ambassadors act as a valuable source of information and strengthen the Career Center’s engagement with the Lafayette community on a peer-to-peer level.


Responsibilities

  • Market and promote Gateway Career Center events, programs, and services to peers in clubs, classrooms, athletics, etc. both in-person and via social media (if applicable)
  • Engage with Gateway Team as a thought partner around constituent needs/wants in the form of individual and small focus group sessions
  • Assist at career fairs and other Career Center events and workshops
  • Participate in outreach activities (tabling, presentations, social media “takeovers”)
  • Support and assist with employer visits (information sessions, interview days)
  • Assist with recruitment, training, and orientation of new ambassadors

Selection process

  • Applications are made available each spring semester via Handshake.
  • First-years, sophomores, and juniors are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must submit an application and resume.
  • After review of application materials, select students will be invited to participate in a virtual or in-person interview. Decisions will be made based on application, resume, and interview outcomes.
  • Once accepted into the program, students are evaluated on a yearly basis.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work up to 5 hours weekly during the Fall & Spring Semester
  • Attend Training during spring semester
  • Attend monthly meeting with Ambassador Program Managers
  • GPA Requirement/Maintenance of at least 2.5
