Communications and Program Development Intern
Eastern PA Trans Equity Project is seeking a Communications and Program Development Intern, who will work collaboratively with the Executive Director to prepare, improve, and implement select programs as the organization expands its services and area of operations. Internships may be part-time or full-time and are unpaid telecommuting positions. In this role the Intern will assist in program implementation, marketing, and planning along with other duties assigned by the Executive Director. Examples of projects include but are not necessarily limited to:
• Observing/assisting with peer-led support groups and moderating online communities
• Conducting intake interviews with mutual aid/financial assistance clients
• Program development and support
• Outreach to mainstream social service agencies
• Identifying trans-affirming service providers
• Development of social media, infographic, and/or educational content
• Composition/Editing of a monthly newsletter
• Event and educational workshop planning and execution
• Attendance at Committee/Board Meetings (non-voting)
• Coordinating volunteer schedules for events
• Identifying grant opportunities/writing grants
Eastern PA Trans Equity Project is a 100% volunteer grass-roots nonprofit with a mission of empowering transgender people while building community and promoting social justice. We accomplish our mission by providing direct services to transgender people and their family members throughout a twenty-six county service area in Eastern Pennsylvania. We also work with corporations, governments, hospital groups and others to improve their practices with regard to serving the transgender community.
This internship opportunity will provide undergraduate and graduate students with an experiential learning opportunity at an LGBTQIA non-profit organization. At the conclusion of the internship the Intern will have learned and developed transferable skills that are relevant for employment in the non-profit sector.
